What Is Cryopen and What Does It Treat?

CryoPen offers progressive cryotherapy (freezing procedure) innovation that is fast, effective and provides a new solution for skin imperfections that include: Pigmentation, Skin Tags, Warts, Viral Verrucae, Age spots and Cherry Angioma.

How Does It Work?

The process takes from 5 to 25 seconds. You can conveniently fit cryotherapy sessions in your lunch break or even before or after work. CryoPen™ treatment is painless, effective and safe to use on kids as it provides precise cooling, without any anaesthetics and cryogenic gases.

The CryoPen™ releases nitrous oxide under high pressure. This provides the clinician with a millimetre precision to work with. The tissues are destroyed by freezing the inter-cellular fluid and the formation of ice shards and crystals that rupture the tissue thus destroying the cell. The healthy tissues are protected from collateral damage. The process is precise and practical.

Who Is Suitable for the Treatment?

First-time clients usually have many questions and fears before going through with Cryopen treatment. Having full information about your skin treatment procedure will ensure your satisfaction with the outcome of the treatment.

You will get advice on what the treatment involves; afterwards, an assessment will be done to determine if you are suitable for the treatment. You will receive an honest report at all times and advised against the treatment if it’s in your best interest.

Possible Side Effects of the Cyropen Treatment

The CryoPen™ procedure is non-invasive and comparatively low risk. The treated area may develop a colour change, which is either dark (hyperpigmentation) or light (hypo-pigmentation) during the healing process. The darkly pigmented skin takes longer to heal though it improves after a few weeks or months. Click here to check out the prices on the Cryopen treatment.

Due to the freezing process, you may experience irritation in the nerves of the skin that may lead to hypersensitivity, numbness or tingling. The symptoms will improve after a couple of weeks or months.

What to Expect After Cryopen Treatment?

The formation of a scab and redness of the lesion will be visible in the next couple of days, that will improve in 1-6 weeks and the remaining area will return to normal. There is also a possibility of developing a change in skin colour or scarring in a small area.

To ensure the desired result is achieved a four-week review appointment is made to clients. During the follow-up appointment, a further top-up is administered if considered necessary.

After treatment, you will experience a residual stinging that can last for an hour. Afterwards, the area will become slightly red, sore and swollen and you might develop a blister. You might experience some weeping from the wound and the formation of a scab.

The skin will dry up, as the wounds begin to heal and retain a dark colour that clears in 1-2 weeks. The leg lesions usually take longer to heal. It is important to avoid picking at the area as this may cause scarring and slow down the healing process. If necessary a follow-up appointment is offered for further treatment.
